How to minimize the oder of the Cats litter box.?

i got a kitten a week ago from my sisters friend, shes a couple months old. and we keep her litter box in our laundry room, only problem is, is that- thats where we hang our shirts to dry and theres no where else to put the box. So we have to find away to minimize or get ride of the stench completly so our cloths dont stink, and if we cant find a way then we have to get rid of the cat, and my dad even doesnt want to. So any tips or ticks to help get rid of the oder, and do not say air fresheners or anything like that because they mostly just mask the smell, Like how many times do we have to change the whole box of litter, stuff like that. PLEASE HELP.
