When will my gauges stop smelling like death?

I have had my ears at 00 for a few months now. Currently they still give off the acrid smell of rotting flesh each time i change them. They look completely healed, nothing funky, and all of the jewelry i am using is strict high quality, bodyartforms. I have had gauges twice before and never have they stunk for this long. I am not claiming to be a seasoned piercing professional, but im no n00b to the world of body modification, so please understand that i don't appreciate sassy replies. I know what im doing.
