What is your opinion on the Filipino style of Kombatan?

I was confused at first since I didn't recognize the person in the video. But at second look, I realized it was the son and not the founder. All I can say is, I'm impressed, he definitely does his father proud. As for the techniques being effective, that as always depends on the way you train. Obviously in this demo, he went for a lot of flash, since that's what demos are basically for, to impress the audience enough to make them want to enroll. But his use of angles, locks and strikes are commonly found in most Filipino MAs and the empty hand techniques as well. Whether one can say it was influenced by Hapkido and Muay Thai, I really can't say. It might be possible, since a lot of the old Filipino Masters also took up foreign MAs back then. Grandmaster Ernesto Sr. and his brother the late grandmaster Remy Presas for example had blackbelts in both Judo and Shotokan, another example would be Grandmaster Cacoy Canete of Doce Pares, who had a blackbelt in Shorinryu, Judo and Aikido. Would I take it if I had the opportunity? Of course I would, I always welcome any opportunity to learn a new skill.
